THE CHRISTMAS STORY – Matthew 1; Luke 1 y 2

Hello, are you ready to hear the beautiful Christmas story?

We all love Christmas because at that time of the year we generally get presents, but did you know that it is also when we celebrate Jesus’ birthday?

Well let’s learn more about Jesus and where He was born.

A very long time ago in land that is called Israel there was a young lady named Mary and she loved God very much. She lived in Nazareth, a village in Galilee.

 2 The-Christmas-Story-04-1

One day the angel Gabriel came to visit her and he told her that she was going to have a baby boy and that she should name Him Jesus. He told her that: “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.” And then Gabriel left.

When it came close to the time for Mary to have her baby, her husband Joseph and she had to make a trip to a city called Bethlehem, where they would have to be counted. They had to obey an order that was given by Caesar Augustus. So everyone went to their own town to register and be counted. And since Joseph was from the family of King David who was from Bethlehem there is where they had to go.

So they traveled many days and nights; Mary rode on a donkey since she got tired very quickly.

 4 The-Christmas-Story-09

When they got to Bethlehem, all the rooms were filled with the people that had come to be counted, because Caesar Augustus had ordered it.

Wherever Joseph went, the story was the same. They all told him there was no room in the inn.

Mary was very tired and really wanted to rest. After knocking on many doors, one inn keeper seeing that Mary was ready to have a baby told Joseph that he had no room in his inn but would let Joseph and Mary use his stable.

This was where he kept his animals. Mary and Joseph were both grateful and happy for getting a place to give birth to their baby.

And so, Mary gave birth to Jesus. The King of kings who was born to save the world came to the world in a very humble place because no one had room for Him anywhere else.

Mary wrapped Jesus in ‘swaddling clothes.’  In those days it was the custom to wrap newborn babies tightly in long pieces of cloth called ‘swaddling clothes’ which kept Him really warm. She then laid him in a manger filled with hay, so it would be a little softer for Him to sleep.

There were many animals in the stable and they were the first ones to see baby Jesus.

The sheep, the cow and the donkey, the birds and the bunny rabbit, they all came to take a look at baby Jesus.

While all this was happening, in the fields near by, an angel appeared in the sky that night to some shepherds who were watching their sheep.

The Shepherds got scared, but the angel told them not to be scared as he was bringing them good news. He told them, “the Savior, yes, the Messiah, the Lord has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” He told them that they would find Him in the manger in Bethlehem.

Then all of a sudden many more angels appeared in the sky praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

 11 a Star in heaven

Now, before the angels left, they showed them where to find Jesus. There was a great big star in heaven and that was the direction that they should go.

So after the angels left, the shepherds said, ‘Let’s run to Bethlehem to see this thing that God has told us!’

 12 The-Christmas-Story-15

When they arrived, they saw Jesus in the manger, what a beautiful baby boy they must have thought. The shepherds were some of Jesus’ first visitors. They knelt down and worshiped Him. It was indeed a very special night.

 13 The-Christmas-Story-16

The shepherds were so happy that they had come, because they had seen God in person for the very first time.

After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about Jesus. Everyone who heard the shepherds’ story was amazed.

 14 The-Christmas-Story-22

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.

Remember, there was no room in the inn for Jesus, but I hope you have room for Him in your heart.

Jesus is God’s Son that came to this earth as a baby. He grew up and taught us all about His Father and at the end of His life Jesus died on a cross to pay for our sins. The wonderful thing is that He lives and one day He will come to for us to live with Him, because He is preparing a place for us in a beautiful city called New Jerusalem, where the street is made of gold and where we will live with Him for ever.

16 Heaven - New Jerusalem

That is where I want to be, with Jesus for ever. How about you, to you want to live with Jesus also? Well, all those who believe and accept Jesus as their Savior and obey Him are going to live with Him for all eternity.
