Did you know that before Jesus went back to heaven that He promised us that He would come back one day?
He told his disciples: “In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2-3)
For us who have received Jesus as our Savior, His coming will be a time of great joy, because He is coming to take us to be with Him forever!
What will happen when Jesus comes back?
When Jesus comes back to take all believers to heaven – both those who have died believing in Jesus and those who are living will all hear a loud trumpet from heaven and will be supernaturally ascended in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Jesus will command us to come to heaven and in an instant we will be there with Him.
The Bible tells us, “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ (these are the believers who have died) shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
So the first thing that will happen is that all those that believed in Jesus who have died will be raised from the dead and they will receive a glorious new resurrected body as they go to meet the Lord in the air.
Then, the believers who are living when Jesus comes will be instantly changed and they will also receive a glorious new resurrected body as they go to meet the Lord in the air.
A resurrected body means that we will be pure like Jesus and there will be no sin in us because sin does not exist in heaven.
All of this will happen super fast, like when you blink your eye.
We will be taken instantly to Heaven to be with the Lord Jesus. Our bodies will be instantly changed and made similar to Christ’s glorious resurrected body.
The apostle Paul said, “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible (with new resurrection bodies), and we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
So, when Christ comes back for the believers, there will be a trumpet blast from the sky, and all those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will suddenly go up in the sky. They will have a new body that will never again get sick or die. In heaven there will be no more sadness or pain.
The Bible tells us that: “Then there shall be two men in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. . . Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:40, 42)
You might be asking yourself, what about those who are not saved? What will happen to those who have never asked Jesus to be their Savior?
Well, they will be left behind to face a time of great trouble on earth like no one has ever seen before. There will be earthquakes that are going to do a lot of damage. There will be terrible wars, horrible diseases, volcanoes erupting and millions of people will starve to death. Jesus said, “For then shall be great tribulation (which means a time of great trouble), such as was not since the beginning of the world…” (Matthew 24:21)
I hope you understand why it is so important for you to tell your friends and loved ones about Jesus Christ’s free gift of salvation, because we want them
to go with us to be with the Lord Jesus and not be left behind to face this terrible time on earth.
So, what will happen in heaven once we get there?
When the believers go to Heaven to be with the Lord Jesus, there will be a judgment called “the Judgment Seat of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)
This judgment is not to see whether or not we are saved. Every true believer is saved forever. But believers will be judged to receive rewards for what they did here on earth, once they received the free gift of salvation that Jesus gave them. It is very important for us to understand the difference between salvation and rewards.
Salvation is a gift we receive while on earth. We receive the gift of eternal life the moment we accept Jesus as our Savior. The Bible says, “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Rewards are earned and we will receive them when we get to Heaven. Did you ever receive a reward for doing something good? God is going to reward His children for the things they do on this earth because they love Him.
For instance, when we tell others about Jesus and teach them how they can be saved, God will reward us for this.
We need to remember that salvation is a gift that we have already received. And rewards we will receive when we get to Heaven.
We earn rewards by faithfully serving the Lord Jesus. The Bible speaks of some very special rewards for those who serve the Lord Jesus faithfully. They are called “crowns.”
There are five beautiful crowns which can be given to believers as rewards.
The Crown of Glory – Is for those who faithfully teach and preach God’s Word. (1 Peter 5:4)
The Crown of Life. Is for those who suffer for the name of Christ, especially those who lay down their lives for Him. (Revelation 2:10)
– – – – – – –
We live in a very exciting time and the most wonderful event is about to happen – the Lord Jesus is coming for His believers to take us to Heaven, to be with Him forever.
I believe that Jesus Christ is coming back real soon!
Jesus said, “Behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” (Revelation 22:12)
People that do not study the Bible may laugh and make fun of us, but God’s Word is clear that Christ is coming for His believers, so we need to be ready.
So, does anyone know when Jesus will come back? No, no one knows when He will come. Jesus said, “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Luke 12:40)
You might be asking so how can I be ready?
We must accept Jesus Christ as our God and Savior and love Him with all our heart.
And if we truly love the Lord Jesus, we will joyfully obey Him. Jesus said, “He that has My commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves Me: And he that loves Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love Him, and will manifest Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
We need to serve the Lord Jesus by telling others about Him and we must pray for the lost. He told us: “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON – SO LET US BE READY…
